The present work aid (Volume 2) contains celebrations of the Word of God "During the Easter Penitential and Eastertide" under the direction of a deacon or a person in charge of the service, because the number of priests has made it increasingly difficult in recent years to ensure the celebration of Holy Mass on certain days in every parish. This volume concludes the series of "Celebrations of the Word". A work aid for the diocese of Trier, published in 2008, contains celebrations of the Word for Advent and the Christmas season (Volume 1), and another published in 2011 contains celebrations of the Word for the year (Volume 3). Throughout the church year, these three volumes are intended to ensure that the liturgical character of the church year is not lost in the consciousness of the congregations. This means that certain feasts should only be celebrated on that day, because the specific content of that day can only be fully developed on that day.
