Henry Kissinger on the greatest challenge of the 21st century: Has the Western value system become obsolete in the 21st century in light of rising powers with entirely different views of humanity and societal concepts as the foundation for a peace-promoting world order? Henry Kissinger, a central figure in U.S. foreign policy for decades and an authority on international relations, sees our era facing existential challenges amid increasing tensions. In today’s globally interconnected world, an order is needed that is accepted by people of different cultures, histories, and traditions, based on a framework capable of containing both regional and global wars. The author analyzes the emergence of different order systems, such as those in China, Islamic countries, or the West, and attempts to address this issue.
