Few have engaged so intensely and critically with the questions of aging in recent years as the Bernese writer, musician, cultural politician, and long-time radio host Urs Frauchiger. His essays are enlightened attempts to hold a mirror to one's own life in old age: without sentimentality, without self-pity, but with insightful thoughts, openly and with a honesty that we all wish for, especially when others carelessly and thoughtlessly speak of the gray panthers. Brilliantly articulated, Frauchiger expresses what we prefer to ignore, namely the finiteness of existence.
