Family vacation with weather knowledge – a colorful non-fiction story for children aged 3 and up. This picture book about the weather amazes children: in the sky, various cloud animals frolic, and cloud races bring fun to the whole family! But what are clouds made of, and how does rain get into the sky? Siblings Maja and Jonas have plenty of questions during their train journey. Their parents patiently explain what they know about the weather and talk about the water cycle on our planet. At the train station, the family finally rents cargo bikes, and on the way to their holiday home, the answers to the curious children's questions continue.
The author, Marion Klara Mazzaglia, has woven factual knowledge into an exciting vacation story, where the theme of eco-friendly travel also plays a significant role. The illustrations by Gloria Maria Jasionowski are almost cloud-soft. The playful drawings pull the viewer right into the story. Each page is marked by this light, floating drawing style of the illustrator.
Without it being explicitly mentioned, the children and parents have different skin colors, reflecting the diversity in our world. The fact that it is the father who bakes cakes at home receives no special attention, but is meant to naturally demonstrate the equality of father and mother. These details make the non-fiction story about clouds and weather also a picture book that tells of mindfulness towards others, tolerance, and openness to the world.
An eco-friendly picture book, sustainably produced and free from harmful substances, thanks to Cradle to Cradle.
