Product details
The term "messie syndrome" is used to describe a phenomenon in which people make their homes uninhabitable by accumulating worthless objects that have become unusable, thereby threatening them with dismissal, eviction and placement in a home. While less severely affected people have the prospect of receiving support from an already cured "messie", the severe cases cannot be influenced without intervention by the authorities, the judiciary and the waste disposal service. And it is always these cases that cause a stir in the media. This book is aimed at social pedagogues, doctors, psychologists, journalists, employees of public authorities such as health authorities, public order offices, social welfare offices, people affected by the litter syndrome and relatives. It has three aims: 1. to present the causes of litter syndrome as far as currently possible, 2. to help those affected to understand it, and 3. to point out possible measures to help. For this 6th edition 2018, the author Dr. Renate Pastenaci has summarised in an introductory chapter her now 18 years of experience in the psychotherapeutic and psychiatric treatment of patients affected by the Messie or Litter Syndrome. She encourages contacting these people and showing them appreciation. The new edition has also been expanded to include an up-to-date list of addresses where those affected and their relatives seeking help can turn to.
