Since 1990, the city and region of Leipzig have experienced (almost) unprecedented development in Germany. With its 6,000,000 inhabitants, Leipzig is once again one of the 'Top Ten' and is 'fully in vogue' as a business, cultural and scientific location. Despite all the successes, the question remains as to where the Leipzig region will develop in the future. How will we live tomorrow? What developments will shape our cultural landscapes? What will happen in the Leipziger Neuseenland? Which 'megatrends' are foreseeable, and what are the imponderables? Two long-term research projects in the Stadt-Land-Plus programme, which have been running since 2017, offer the opportunity to take stock and look ahead to urban and regional development in equal measure. With texts, data, facts and background information as well as numerous maps and illustrations, partners from science and practice show how 'inter-municipal cooperation' can succeed in securing future prospects.
