In their second case, detectives Pepe and Max have their hands full. Secretary Janek is completely distraught - her dog Bommel has gone missing. So the grumpy janitor Friese has to search the entire school. In vain. Pepe and Max promise him that they will take care of the case. The sentence structure, word choice, and length of the text are designed so that even less experienced readers in the second grade can follow the story without major difficulties. They are supported by cleverly woven questions that automatically draw attention to the most important twists and details, allowing the reader to become a detective themselves. The answers can sometimes be found in the illustrations, but mainly in the text. However, the answers in the text must first be made visible with a red film. The numerous illustrations provide additional support.
