Wissenschaftliche Grundlagen zum Yoga mit Kindern und Jugendlichen

Yoga for children is now used in many educational and clinical fields. In this book, one of the pioneers of yoga with children in Germany describes the scientific basis for children's yoga in summary form for the first time. This scientific summary, which was founded with a dissertation project at the University of Leipzig in 1994, has contributed to the establishment of children's yoga in institutions in Germany. This book is primarily concerned with the description of mechanisms of action, the scientific determination of indications and contraindications and a scientifically based yoga definition and exercise methodology for children. Thus, an understanding model of children's yoga is developed, with which the ¿medicine¿ of yoga in its traditional form can also unfold in children. At the same time, it prevents children's yoga from developing into a non-specific wellness programme for children, in which a mix of dance, movement games, massages, etc. is found, thus losing its effect and tradition. In this respect, the book is also a reflection aid for practitioners and indispensable reading for children's yoga trainings.
