Content

This book serves students of law and economics, as well as practitioners – lawyers in companies, consultants in economic matters, criminal defense attorneys, prosecutors, and judges – who are looking for an introduction and an overview of the extensive field of economic criminal law.

With this newly presented edition, the previously published works in two volumes on the General Part and Special Part have been consolidated into a single unit.

In his comprehensive textbook, the author addresses not only the Special Part (e.g., foreign trade law, antitrust and other competition criminal law, money laundering, investment fraud, product piracy, etc.) but also the issues that frequently arise in cases of economic crime: questions of sufficient clarity of laws and regulations, factual ("economic") or classical (especially teleological) interpretation of legal norms, capturing circumvention actions, peculiarities of the doctrine of justification, the impact of division of labor on the determination of perpetrators and participants, and much more.

Overall, the 68 cases from German and European practice in economic criminal law aim to specifically explain those problems that may be unfamiliar to the reader from "normal" criminal law and may therefore pose understanding difficulties.

The Author

Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Klaus Tiedemann is a retired professor of criminal law, criminal procedure law, and criminology at the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg im Breisgau.
