Wirtschaftlichkeit von Regionalflughäfen

The changes in air traffic over the past years have led not only to the establishment of the low-cost segment but also to the emergence of many regional airports. Focusing on Germany, the question arises as to which regional airports are successful in the market, what the factors for success in terms of air traffic and business management are, and what impact regional airports have on the local economy. After an introductory overview of air traffic and the systematics of airfields, a statistical analysis of German regional airports is conducted. Building on this, eight selected locations are analyzed in detail to identify success structures and reasons for lack of success. Finally, the effects of regional airports as location and economic factors are examined.
