Excited and expectant, we looked into the future back then! Join us in reminiscing about the first 18 years of life - your childhood and youth! Born in 1937, this was a generation that experienced a time of great contrasts: We grew up with the wailing of sirens and nighttime air raid alarms, but mostly without fathers. We suffered from hunger and deprivation, played in ruins, and shopped on the black market or with ration cards. We experienced the occupation period and the introduction of the Deutsche Mark. We grew into the era of the economic miracle, visited cinemas and dance schools, got to know rock 'n' roll and American jazz, and took our first trips both domestically and abroad.
