Excited and expectant, we looked to the future back then! Join us in reminiscing about the first 18 years of life - your childhood and youth! Born in 1929, it was a childhood and youth without television and consumer pressure, sheltered within the family, yet constrained by the Nazi regime. Worship of Hitler even in kindergarten, holiday trips by train, military training camps, nights of bombing, debris clearance, hunger, and the black market, jazz enthusiasm, and lessons in democracy. A rollercoaster of emotions, joy and sorrow, burned children, a youth in Germany between the Weimar and Bonn Republics.
