Almar von Wistinghausen (1903-1989) attended Rudolf Steiner's agricultural course in Koberwitz near Breslau in 1924, experiencing the birth of biodynamic agriculture as its youngest participant. Steiner is said to have asked him if he understood anything, to which the twenty-year-old replied, "Not a word." Nevertheless, he dedicated his life to the development of this new agricultural method. Later, as a certified farmer, Almar von Wistinghausen tirelessly managed estates in the Mark Brandenburg, in Upper Lusatia, and a farm in Württemberg. His commitment to biodynamic farming was a lifelong endeavor of pioneering work, research, and consulting.
