Winnetou I

Winnetou, illustrated by Walter Neugebauer based on the worldwide bestseller by Karl May. The book is published in the famous green linen cover with gold embossing from the Karl May Verlag. The centerpiece is the legendary Winnetou version from Fix and Foxi and the significantly different album version of the so-called drawing film book - both in excellent digital processing. There is plenty of background material. It begins with an insightful, current interview with Gisela Italiaander, the partner of the artist who passed away in 1992. Neugebauer's Croatian adaptation from 1938 is also included. It showcases Neugebauer's roots and addresses completely different, sometimes curious aspects from Karl May's novel. Neugebauer only came into play with the second FF episode but continued the story at a later point. We present the unknown missing pages of the first illustrator. Selected pages from the drawing film book are shown in their original form. They document the unusual working method used for this album. We decided to publish the book in A4 format, as this size best showcases both the comics and the articles with their numerous illustrations.
