Product details
The photographer William Eggleston, born in 1939 in Memphis, Tennessee, is considered a pioneer of artistic color photography. Eggleston is known for his eccentric, unexpected image compositions and their playfulness, which often includes narrative elements. However, his portraiture is especially outstanding. Over the past 50 years, he has photographed friends, family, and numerous artists. Musicians like Elvis Presley and Joe Strummer have stood in front of his camera, and actors such as Dennis Hopper and director David Lynch have also been portrayed by him. This first monograph dedicated exclusively to Eggleston's portraits presents around 90 of his photographs in chronological order. The previously unpublished images are complemented by an interview with the photographer and some family members, as well as an essay about his life and work.
