The Vienna Woods are an ancient cultural landscape located directly at the gates of Vienna and have been inhabited since at least the Neolithic Age. However, the geological history of this varied landscape goes back much further. In this elaborately designed and completely revised 3rd edition, the geological structure and the geological, paleogeographical and plate tectonic development of this northeastern part of the Alps are precisely described using outcrops and illustrated by 42 excursions.
