There is little information on how children and adolescents experience and process alcoholism in the family. The author interviewed adults who grew up with alcoholic fathers as children and teenagers. Through her qualitative study, she provides insight into the living conditions of these children and adolescents. Key aspects of interaction and communication within the family are highlighted. The effects on personality development are not solely assessed negatively; rather, the unique strengths and developmental potentials of the children and adolescents are also presented.
