"Hold your face in the rain, every drop is a kiss from me..." Munich, April 1945. After a devastating air raid, eleven-year-old Paul wanders through rubble and destruction with a suitcase. In search of a hiding place, he meets a little girl. Her name is Sarah, and like him, she has lost her family – and she bears a striking resemblance to his sister. To avoid being alone and to prevent being separated by the authorities, Paul and Sarah make a pact: from now on, they will pretend to be siblings. Their plan works. But how could they have known that their little lie would become their doom years later...
