What are you looking so retarded?

23-year-old Marc is forced to face his severe disability when the university sends him to Canada for a year. There he meets other young disabled people in a residential home, who are struggling with the same fears as he is.
Marc begins to question his illness, struggles for more independence and a healthier self-esteem. In him the hope germinates that it is also possible for him to lead a normal life in which disability does not play a key role.
But then he reaches his limits: In an effort to gain more independence, he fights with the director of the home. He puts himself in danger when he overestimates his physical abilities.
And he has to watch how his roommates face their problems and fail. When he also falls in love with an attractive fellow student, his convictions start to waver.
