Product details

The competitiveness of the Bundesliga in international competitions of European professional football is a widely discussed topic. Until now, the literature has lacked an institutional and empirical analysis of the competitive position of the Bundesliga. Florian Hösl successfully captures the determinants of market competition among the five leading professional football leagues in a corporate and environmental model for the first time. Econometric panel analyses of the UEFA coefficient show that the Bundesliga is highly competitive, which is further supported by the finding of high production efficiency. Therefore, the fan-friendly club-based league model should be maintained.
