Westfalen entdecken

Discover Westphalia! Under this motto, the LWL Media Center called on ambitious amateur and professional photographers in spring 2010 to embark on a journey of discovery through "their" Westphalia and capture their personal perspective on the land and its people. The focus was on the unique features of individual subregions – notable landmarks in their hometown or district – as well as the typical aspects of the entire region: landmarks such as Westphalia's medieval churches, its town halls or industrial monuments, its landscapes – but also modern Westphalia: the urban shopping street, the multicultural city festival, contemporary urban development projects. As a result of an open, publicly accessible competition, this publication presents Westphalia from a special viewpoint: that of its citizens. They are the ones who have explored their homeland through photography, and their photos invite us to "discover Westphalia" as well.
