Texts are organisational forms of linguistic action. "Text procedures" provide the symbolic building blocks for this by linking certain actions with linguistic expression. With this concept, procedural writing didactics focuses on the craftsmanship and teachability of writing: How can procedures be formulated theoretically and empirically? To what extent are procedures based on oral language experience? How can speaking together about texts and their qualities generate attention for text procedures? These and other questions are addressed in the 10 contributions to the volume by well-known didactic experts. The authors use examples from the fields of telling, describing, explaining, instructing and arguing to show the practical significance of the approach for the diagnosis of textual competencies and for teaching.
