WerkstattGeschichte is a journal that reflects on history and its protagonists as well as on historical research and writing. It offers space to break through conventional perspectives and try out new forms of representation. The journal remains committed to social history, but emphasises the importance of questioning "big history" from an everyday historical perspective. In the current issue, edited by Annika Raapke and Isabelle Schürch, the articles address colonial historiographies of violence. They present new approaches to historical research on violence, thematise experiences of physical colonial violence and take a critical look at their historiographical handling and methodological questions.
