In their order, they were known and appreciated as Brother Ulrich and Sister Felicitas. However, Beate Heinen left the Benedictine convent as a young nun, just before her final vows, out of love for art. Ulrich Schmitz became a brother in the same year. He remained loyal to the Franciscans for over forty years before leaving the monastery out of love for Beate. Today, they are a couple. She is a painter, and he is an art therapist.

Their unique story is filled with incredible twists - from the transition from habit to miniskirt to the career change from abbot to grandpa. But there are also heavy moments that did not go as planned - from illness to loss.
