Wendepunkte im Lebenslauf

Biographies rarely run in a straight line. People today are confronted with constant change, which gives their lives the appearance of the temporary and random. It is becoming more and more difficult to find an inner coherence in one's own biography. This situation requires more than ever attention to the interplay between the person and their life world. Are we not basically just players on the stage of our own history? Doesn't much of what we try to avoid catch up with us under changed living conditions? Do we not often make necessary changes and long overdue developments only when new life circumstances demand them of us? Or when they open up space for realisation? Doesn't our personality unfold in an interaction with the offers of the environment, as the ecological view of the life course describes it?
