Product details

Allegedly for research purposes, a private company sets up a computer-animated world in which economic and social developments can be simulated in order to make forecasts and thus decisions on action. After the sudden death of a senior employee, Fred Stiller takes over as the company's head of security. He soon begins to suspect that the death of his predecessor was no coincidence and realises that he himself is part of the simulation. The screenplay for the legendary science fiction film, which went down in film history as "Pre-Matrix", appears here for the first time. Fassbinder worked together with Fritz M&uumlller-Scherz based on the novel by Daniel F. Galouye and first and foremost wanted to tell an entertaining story: Of a world "in which you can create projections of people with a computer. And this of course raises doubts about the extent to which you yourself are just a projection. Perhaps another, larger world has created us as a model for thinking?".
