Weibliche Kollektive

In light of the current criticism of feminist universalism and the questioning of biological gender categories, this volume seeks plural logics of female collectives. It brings together a mix of essays and scholarly articles that explore different theories of the feminine and examines, from a historical and interdisciplinary perspective, the self- and other-descriptions, forms and functions, representations and interpretations of these collective formations. Through examples ranging from ancient choruses, maenads, and crowds to the motif of sisters and (pen)friends, as well as the cinematic portrayal of women's shared living spaces and digital collectives like the #metoo movement, the contributions investigate the respective semantics, logics, and dynamics of alliances under the concept of the feminine.
