Napoleon and the good night

The story originates from "s' Järbsyte Peters Gschichtli vom alten Napolion u vom Chräjebüel," written down in 1908. Napoleon actually had a bear named Rosschnächt and maintained a healthy relationship with him. The young Peter personally knew the Rosschnächt Chräjebüel, and Emil Günter heard the story and documented it in 1908, just as his friends had requested. The book can still be found in second-hand bookstores, and there have been several reprints.

However, this story differs significantly from "Järbsyte- Peters Gschichtli." Napoleon's friend is named Bänz Guetchnächt and hails from Lushütte-Hoger on the Napf. As Bänz and Napoleon journey together, they travel from Lushütte up in the Napf to Waterloo. Of course, there is a bear involved, but the neighbor has ensured that the good old patrician bear has no more say in the matter.
