Kevin Lötscher is just 23 years old when, on May 9, 2011, he scores two goals as a national ice hockey player in his first A World Championship against the USA. All doors are open to him - even those to the best ice hockey league in the world, the NHL. But just five days later, everything changes. On May 14, 2011, he is hit by a drunk driver in the Valais and is thrown thirty meters onto a pile of gravel. Unconsciousness, life-threatening injuries. Lötscher suffers a severe traumatic brain injury and has to relearn the simplest tasks like walking and eating. Contrary to all medical predictions, he manages to return to the ice. However, he must realize that the days of his golden hands are over. The aftereffects of the accident are too strong. He retires and falls into a deep depression. EISZEIT documents Kevin Lötscher's time on the ice, but also the cold, dark time that follows.
