The expert interviews that form the core of this volume make it clear: high-quality, effective teaching development and design in the subject of art relates to various dimensions of instruction. It ranges from preparatory planning to evaluation and extends from the surrounding context into the classroom itself. But when is art education in general schools truly high-quality and effective? What can "effectiveness" mean from the perspective of the subject of art? In what ways and in what aspects are qualities concretely recognizable? By posing ten questions about "effective art education" to ten art educators from higher education and schools, they provide valuable insights into their respective art educational practices and processes. The overview of the various interviews also makes it clear that there is no single answer to the aforementioned questions in the subject of art. Rather, the multifaceted responses reveal "art educational complexity" (Henschel 2019) as a subject-specific, structural characteristic.
