Was ist 'guter BRU'?

The question of quality and quality development in schools and teaching has increasingly dominated discussions in recent years, whether in practice, academia, education policy, or the public sphere. This volume addresses this current discussion with a focus on religious education in vocational schools (BRU). Particularly due to new findings from empirical educational research, there is a need for action in BRU, and new opportunities for quality development can be utilized. This is not only about educational policy expectations but primarily about a genuinely pedagogical concern: young people should be supported as effectively as possible so that they can acquire the skills necessary for a successful life. Furthermore, societal cohesion is also a consideration, which learning in school should contribute to. Generally, religious education has not been one of the subjects at the center of such discussions. When it comes to successful life management or societal cohesion, this is a critical oversight. The usual focus on traditional core subjects (mathematics and languages), supplemented by natural sciences, proves to be too narrow when broader educational goals are taken into account. This volume presents results from a Delphi survey of experts from practice, empirical special analyses for further education in BRU, and findings from a pilot study on students' perceptions of the teaching.
