Product details

It is expected that by 2020, COPD will be the third leading cause of death worldwide, following heart disease and stroke. Experts point out that the number of people with COPD who have not yet received treatment is significantly higher than that of treated COPD patients. Studies demonstrate the enormous costs of COPD therapy, which naturally increase dramatically with the severity of the disease. There is also a noticeable trend that patients requiring treatment are becoming increasingly younger, thus temporarily falling out of the workforce. A multitude of authors has addressed these aspects. This book is an excerpt from their findings and an attempt to clarify whether changes in health policy could lead to potential savings. This document was created as part of my studies at the Vienna University of Economics and Business in the Health Care Management program, supported by the Vienna Hospital Association.
