Summary:
Among the books that moved the world is Erwin Schrödinger's masterpiece of scientific prose, "What is Life?". The physicist and Nobel laureate's lectures were first published in 1944. In the introduction to the new edition, biologist and physicist Ernst Peter Fischer explains how Schrödinger laid the foundation for the exploration of the physical structure of genetic information.

Authors: Schrödinger, Erwin; Mazurcak, L. (Translated by the author):
Erwin Schrödinger, born in 1887 in Vienna and died in 1961 in Vienna, was a professor of physics in Zurich, Berlin, Oxford, Graz, Dublin, and from 1956 in Vienna. His groundbreaking insights in the fields of wave mechanics, relativistic quantum theory, gravitational theory, and unified field theory were pivotal.
