Was ist Antisemitismus?

Fundamental concepts, central problem areas, and prominent positions in antisemitism research are briefly and introductory explained. "What is Antisemitism?" provides a concise yet well-founded presentation of the basic terms, issues, and an overview of the authors who are significant for the scientific and public discussion about the understanding of antisemitism in the German-speaking world. The editors pursue two main objectives: First, the complex scientific work on various concepts of antisemitism, such as Israel-related or "postcolonial" antisemitism, should be made accessible to a broader audience. Second, knowledge about the different views of antisemitism from the perspectives of the philosophy of science and epistemology, as well as antisemitism research, should be systematized. The book is the result of an intensive exchange within the framework of the research project "Defining Antisemitism," in which eight individuals with diverse academic and biographical backgrounds have outlined the basic lines of different definitions of antisemitism and discussed the challenges in defining it. The outcome is an interdisciplinary volume that provides a central resource against the backdrop of current controversial debates.
