Product details

Lucius Burckhardt, 1925-2003, was a professor of urbanism at the Gesamthochschule in Kassel. He is the inventor of promenadology, the science of walking.

In the 1980s, Lucius Burckhardt established promenadology, the science of walking, also known as strollology. He developed this new discipline into a complex and far-reaching field of planning and design. Promenadology serves as the starting point for a realistic approach to perception and reality, for a different understanding of landscape and urban space, as well as for new architecture and planning. This book introduces the fundamentals and theory of the science of walking through a selection of texts by Lucius Burckhardt on landscape, nature, and aesthetics.
