Berlin 1973: The Cold War is omnipresent. In East Berlin, the Russians are in control, while in West Berlin, the Allies and Axel Springer hold sway. Thea von Glinsky works as an investigative journalist for B.Z. When her aunt Erna dies in East Berlin, she asks her ex-husband Oliver to retrieve a valuable heirloom from Erna's apartment—unaware that the silver cross is of great significance. With his help, it can be used to manipulate the secretive Department V, which is supposed to carry out Walter Ulbricht's last coup. However, the cross has since fallen into the wrong hands.
