Geschichte einer Stradivari

The adventurous biography of a three-hundred-year-old violin: The French author Frédéric Chaudière, a violin maker himself, vividly and knowledgeably narrates the tumultuous life story of an instrument and the people who have come into contact with it over the centuries. The tall spruce, cut down on a new moon night in January 1707 in the Venetian Val di Fiemme, has no idea of its future fate. From its wood, one of the most precious violins in the world will be crafted, and within its fibers, the compositions of famous musicians - eventually even the notorious jazz - will resonate.
