Macht und Herrschaft

The engagement with power and domination in the social sciences has been diverse. This has ranged from different theoretical approaches to the formation of heterogeneous concepts, as well as empirical investigations of specific power structures and contexts of domination. In the present book, the most important theories and fields of study from sociology and political science are presented to illustrate the multiplicity of findings and concepts related to power and domination. Each contribution highlights the substantive content these phenomena have taken on, how they have been conceptually differentiated, and where the particularities and innovations of each approach can be seen. From a historical perspective, not only does a developmental direction of thought about power and domination emerge, but traditions also become visible.
