The International Women's University "Technology and Culture" begins its teaching operations on July 15, 2000, almost exactly three years after the project's launch on July 1, 1997. Today, just before the start of the on-site phase of the ifu, we reflect on a successful, as well as challenging and enriching, period of project development. In the course of its realization, the concept has evolved over the three years of its development, and the emphasis on various focal points has shifted. Initially, the dimension of "research perspectives" was at the center of considerations, but today the aspect of interculturality has come to the forefront. Perhaps most importantly, especially after the admission of female students, the role of the ifu as an educational institution has gained priority. Tradition and the breaking of tradition: A project like that of a women's university.
