Completely newly developed study edition of Schopenhauer's Berlin lectures on "The Complete Philosophy." The lecture manuscripts offer a significantly expanded variant of his main work "The World as Will and Representation" and allow for an easier entry into his work through their didactically improved presentation. Schopenhauer's philosophy can be read as a morphology of forms of knowledge: In each of the four parts of the "Lecture on The Complete Philosophy" or the four books of "The World as Will and Representation," a specific form of knowledge plays a central role in characterizing the respective presented perspective. These forms of knowledge are linked to different areas such as (natural) science (Vol. 1: correlative form of knowledge), metaphysics (Vol. 2: analogical form), art (Vol. 3: contemplative form), and morality (Vol. 4: compassion as a form of knowledge). The manuscripts of the lectures from the summer of 1820 are essential for understanding Schopenhauer's philosophy – including its genesis. Although they are closely aligned in content and structure with "The World as Will and Representation," Schopenhauer formulates numerous additions and appendices that significantly expand the lecture manuscript compared to "The World as Will and Representation." For the new edition of his lectures, the manuscripts have been completely re-transcribed. This presents, for the first time, a complete text based on Schopenhauer's latest revision, which is presented here in a reader-friendly manner.
