Curtains up for Hercule Poirot's last case! Poirot, now afflicted by arthritis and paralyzed, asks his old friend Captain Hastings to come to his country estate Styles with his illustrious company. It was here that the two of them solved their first case together. Now Hastings is to take Poirot's place and track down a serial killer, whose identity Poirot has long since figured out, but for whose capture he lacks the evidence. Thus, he refers to the perpetrator as "X" even in conversation with Hastings. For Poirot, it is only a matter of time before X strikes again. But will Hastings succeed in helping his old friend and getting ahead of the murderer?.
