The anterior cruciate ligament lesion is one of the most common (sports) injuries. With approximately 28,000 operations per year, it is one of the most common surgical procedures on the knee. This book deals exclusively with this topic and explains the anatomical, physiological, pathophysiological and biomechanical principles of the healthy and injured anterior cruciate ligament in a complex and structured way. The path to diagnosis as well as the therapeutic options - both conservative and operative - are presented, supplemented by instructive illustrations. A further focus of the book: early functional rehabilitation, effects of immobilization and training on the support and movement organs, basics of strength and muscle building training - an excursus into general training theory.
