The topic "conflict and reconciliation" is not a new one in itself, but has probably existed as long as there have been people. Wherever two or more people meet, a dispute can arise from different causes. Not only different interests and attitudes, but also external circumstances (e.g. tiredness, illness, stress) can spark off a dispute. Since violence often plays a role in disputes, it is important to learn how to argue properly. However, the most important learning technique for development - learning by imitation - is all too often withheld from children. In many parental homes a "proper" culture of argument is missing. Although children get to know arguing as a part of life, they do not learn how to deal with this phenomenon adequately. They often don't know that differences of opinion and disputes, even without any form.
