There are findings on the significance and effects of transitions in the course of life and school, which are reflected, among other things, in targeted measures in the field of education. To date, very little is known about transitions in the context of German as a second language (GSL), e.g. transitions into a new living environment or with regard to learning another language. There is little knowledge about whether these are transitions specific to GSL that need to be taken into account didactically or in what form those involved can be supported in order to make transitions beneficial for educational progress. The anthology contributes to closing this research gap and opens the publication series German as a Second Language Positions, Perspectives, Potentials of the SDD-DaZ-AG.
