Vol de nuit

The three postcards from Patagonia, Chile, and Paraguay traveled from the south, east, and north to Buenos Aires. We attended to their loading in order to give the departure, around noon, to the European aircraft. Three pilots, each at the wheel of a heavy aircraft, lost in the night, completed their flight and, towards the immense city, descended slowly from their stormy or peaceful sky, as if some foreign peasants were descending from their mountains. Rivière, in charge of the entire network, traveled long and wide over the Buenos Aires airfield. He remained silent because, until the arrival of the three airplanes, this day, for him, was still a formidable one.
