The fifth edition of the textbook on international criminal law covers the fundamentals and the general part of international criminal law, as well as the individual international crimes, in a proven format. International case law and literature have been comprehensively updated. New sections have been added addressing criticism and the fragmentation of international criminal law, the war crimes related to the use of prohibited weapons decided at the 16th Conference of States Parties to the ICC Statute, the prosecution of international crimes in Syria and Northern Iraq, and the implementation of the new regulations regarding the crime of aggression in Germany. The sections on war crimes and crimes against humanity related to slavery and enslavement, as well as sexual violence and the war crime of attacking particularly protected objects, have been completely redesigned.
