From the early modern period through the League of Nations era to the present: The first part of this introductory work highlights the development and history of international law. The second part deals with international law as a legal system and conveys the essential foundations. Interesting examples explain the key information on the topic in a concise, easily readable format. The role of Switzerland is also examined in this context. In doing so, Oliver Diggelmann makes an important contribution to the current debate on the so-called self-determination initiative, which aims to enshrine the primacy of constitutional law over international law in the Swiss Constitution.
