The retrospective of one of the most important fashion photographers of our time: Viviane Sassen has evolved since the publication of her first photo book Parasomnia in 2008 into one of the most sought-after photographic artists of her generation. Her enigmatic fashion images navigate the boundary between concrete, commissioned photography and freely associating art. The Hepworth Wakefield Museum in West Yorkshire will showcase a comprehensive retrospective of Viviane Sassen's work from 2008 to the present in the summer of 2018. The exhibition will focus on the influence of surrealist art, which has strongly shaped Viviane Sassen's work from the very beginning.
