This example-oriented introduction to the modeling and numerical simulation of technical systems is written for engineers. It covers the necessary mathematical foundations, the description of dynamic systems through differential equations, and the solution of these differential equations using numerical integration methods. All presented methods are demonstrated in the form of executable PC programs in the Pascal programming language. Various simulation tools currently in use are illustrated through examples. A key focus is the block-oriented simulation system Boris. All described examples can be simulated using the accompanying CD.
