Brückendynamik

This book is content-wise aligned with my dissertation "On the Dynamic Behavior of Cable-Stayed Bridges under Wind Influence," with which I obtained my doctorate in July 1991 at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Surveying at the University of Stuttgart. The dynamics of bridges, and particularly the issue of wind-induced vibrations, is gaining practical significance due to the increasing boldness of today’s structures; thus, the idea for this work emerged during my professional activity in bridge construction. Consequently, the topic of the dissertation will be of interest to a broader audience in the field. This book, published by Vieweg, aims to address this circumstance. Professor Dr.-Ing. Dr.-Ing. E. h. Jörg Schlaich, Director of the Institute for Structural Design and Construction at the University of Stuttgart, supported and supervised me.
